IGetMail - Install Checklist
If you are setting up your company's e-mail system for the first time,
or expanding its scope, or even just making changes, you will need to have
certain items in place before you can use IGetMail to automatically
download incoming POP3 e-mail messages.
-
Registered Domain Name
-
ISP Account set up for both domain name and e-mail hosting
-
Direct access to your ISP via T1, DSL,
High-Speed Cable or Dial-up networking
-
Local e-mail server that is running
Microsoft Exchange 5.5 / 2000 / 2003
-
Optional: separate Windows NT / 2000
/ 2003 Server on your network with access to the local Exchange Server
(if you do not wish to install IGetMail on the Exchange Server itself)
Run the Installation Program (igmsetup.exe)
Run the IGetMail setup program. It will prompt you for the folder to install the software.
After installation you will be presented with the IGetMail Administrator wizard.
-
Proceed to Step 2 where you specify
the Internet connectivity method: Direct Connection
If you connect to the Internet
using anything except a standard modem, select the Direct Connection option. If you need IGetMail to
dial your modem to connect to the Internet, then select the Dial-up Networking option.
-
On the next screen you will define how IGetMail connects to your local e-mail
server. At the top of the panel enter the name or IP address of the machine that is running your
local Exchange Server.
-
Enter your registered domain name in the Local Server Internet Domain section. This will be the
name of the domain that is to the right of the “@” in your e-mail address for example “YourCompany.com”.
-
On the next panel (Step 4) you define the names of your remote POP3 accounts.
-
If your ISP stores all of your e-mail into a single account, then select the
“Add New Group” button. If you have a single account that your users log into individually at the
ISP, then select the “Add New Person” button.
The difference between a group account and an individual
account is that IGetMail will sort the e-mail for a group account, but individual accounts are
not sorted. Exchange Server
will not sort the e-mail.
-
After configuring your POP3 accounts, setup the schedule to define how often you
want IGetMail to connect to your POP3 accounts and check for new e-mail.
-
Next, specify if you want IGetMail to run as a service or as an application.
You should select
service in order to make sure that IGetMail is always checking your e-mail.
-
The last step allows you to specify maintenance options. These are useful when you are testing connection.
After you complete the Wizard, IGetMail will automatically check your e-mails.
INSTALLATION NOTE:
The License Number field in the 30-day trial version is grayed out and
will not allow for a License Number to be typed in. After you
purchase IGetMail, we will send you instructions on how to activate this
License field to enter your License Number. No re-installation is
necessary and all configurations and settings will remain intact.
