Scottsdale, Arizona USA, 8 Jan 2010 --  Lockstep Systems, Inc. today announced the release of Backup for Workgroups version 4.4, which includes support for both the Windows Server 2008 R2 and the Windows 7 operating systems along with support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. Backup for Workgroups is a disk-based automatic backup software program designed for Windows servers, desktops and laptops.

Along with support for the latest Microsoft operating systems and major applications, version 4.4 also includes built-in data verification features accessible through the Backup for Workgroups user interface. “With the ability to schedule a verification of the contents of the Backup for Workgroups database, routine maintenance of backup data can be performed automatically,” said Karl Forster, President of Lockstep Systems, Inc. “If a problem is detected, Backup for Workgroups can correct the problem without requiring user intervention.”

Designed for small businesses, Backup for Workgroups is easy to use and delivers key enterprise-class features at an affordable price; keeping overall data protection costs to a minimum. It operates as a client/server application, with the server side software centralizing the storage of the backup data to disk-based media. The Backup Client software is installed on each computer to backup. Backup for Workgroups supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.
